In 2006, new editions of all eight books were published with illustrations by Tracy Dockray, followed in 2013 by new editions with pictures by Jacqueline Rogers. Later editions of the first two books also featured new cover art by Tiegreen. After Darling's death in 1970, Alan Tiegreen took over as illustrator through 1984's Ramona Forever and also drew the cover art for Ramona's World. The first two books in the series were illustrated, as were most of Cleary's books in the 1950s and 1960s, by Louis Darling.
